COMMANDERS MESSAGE
May 30th.........Memorial Day........a
day set aside for remembering our fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters,
friends and neighbors, all of those who gave their all for our country and
the American Way. Although for many of us we think of our loved heroes
everyday, but whether you do or not, Memorial Day is the day given for
memorializing them. So, on May 30th, no matter what you are doing, be
it Memorial Day ceremonies, parades, visiting grave sites, or just spending
it with your family, please stop and think of those American heroes who we
could not bring home alive. MAY IS ELECTION MONTH
Last month the nominations for
the 2005-2006 Council year were made. The results are as follows:
Elections for the above offices
will be held at the May meeting. The posts of Secretary, Treasurer,
Chaplain, Sergeant at Arms, Special Advisor to the Commander, and
Parliamentarian and Service Officer, which are appointed by the Commander
will also have to be filled. There are also several committee chairs
that will be available. The following is a list of the VAC
Committees. Take a look and see where you can become involved. Let
your new Commander know after the election. VAC PLACES FLAGS ON VETERAN GRAVES Traditionally in addition to our other Memorial Day activities the VAC places flags on Veteran Graves with Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts and attends other ceremonies. Details will be given at the meeting. If you would like to help with these projects, please call 481-6020. No Veteran should be forgotten on Memorial Day.
